“You already have it” he said, as if somehow that would set my mind at ease. You see, this was my brother Trent’s way of consoling you; that is, zero empathy and stone cold direct advice. Many times I left conversations with Trent feeling the overwhelming urge to punch him in the face. But deep down, I knew he was right. He was always right.
You see, as much as my brother and I have rivaled and argued with each other over the years, one thing I have never questioned is Trent’s intelligence. I long ago lost count of the epiphanies I had that he was directly responsible for. Without Trent, I would have been deeply trapped in the Matrix with no idea how to escape.
I first began to take notice of Trent’s otherworldly intelligence when I was in junior high and he was blowing away all of the students at Lone Oak high school with his prodigious guitar skills. I was determined to join his band, and was granted my wish as a 7th grader. We were paid to play shows around the area, and regularly brought down the house at friends’ birthday parties. This was largely because of Trent’s incredible song writing skills at the age of 15.
Possibly our greatest achievement was playing a rock and roll show at our overly conservative church’s youth group getaway called Jan-Kay Retreat. You see, at our church, we were not allowed to play instruments, as only a cappella music (singing with no instruments) was allowed. This made it difficult to showcase our talents, and severely held Trent back from shining in the spotlight. However, despite our youth group minister’s pleas to leave my drumset at home and take only a snare drum, we persisted and brought our full setup. As the final act of the talent show, the lights went out, and the two brothers, members of a band called “Wood” (along with bassist Blake Garmon), proceeded to take the house down!
As the years went by, Trent continued to dazzle with his intelligence, graduating easily with honors from Abilene Christian University, then casually inventing a wildly successful workout regimen called “Sorority Bootcamp” that allowed him so much success that he was able to buy a Cadillac at the young age of 24!
As if that was child’s play, Trent went on to move to China and absolutely tear up the charts with his band “Tidal Wave” there. While in China, Trent also researched and developed a nutrition plan as a result of getting sick from the disgusting smog and pollution that large cities in China are known for. He then published and released this book Enlightened Eating to a rapidly growing fan base and received heaps of praise and glowing reviews from some of the biggest names in the nutrition business.
As if that wasn’t enough, Trent has now agreed to a deal with a wildly successful nutrition company in Dallas, Texas, called Crucial FOUR, allowing him to continue his growth as an expert in the health and nutrition field, and attracting a growing audience to the benefits of a healthy diet, including the ability to heal cancer naturally!
As I have reluctantly followed in Trent’s footsteps, I realize that any and all of my success as an adult and as an intellectual is almost completely attributable to Trent. Teaching me the concepts of meditation, visualization, feeling the energy of already having something so that you can manifest it, and finally, how to eat a clean and healthy diet, has without a doubt changed my life completely.
You are a great brother, Trent, and I love you and wish you continued success. As your army of supporters grows by the day, just know that I am leading the charge and will support you 100% always!
